No Limit
by Janine Folks
I was thumbing through a science book that was published in 1970. The book predicted that by the year 2000, the earth would be depleted of oil. Oil is considered by scientists to be a limited resource, finite supply. The consumption of oil is much faster than its reproduction. Well, it's 2010, and we are still consuming oil. We are driving cars, heating our homes in winter, cooking, etc... We are doing these things like there is no intention to stop any time soon. So what happened to oil being a limited resource?
Scientists continue to warn against squandering limited resources, yet we continue in our oil consumption. It just doesn't add up. Has someone miscalculated? Or has someone underestimated God's ability and willingness to supply for His people supernaturally?!
God controls oil supply! Remember how He controlled the flow of oil for the widow and her sons in 2 Kings 4? She had a little oil and God multiplied it to meet her need. When the flow stopped, it's because He stopped it (v.6). Her need had been met. God is creative and a Supernatural Provider. He turned a boy's lunch of five loaves and two fish into enough to feed literally thousands of people (Mark 6:30-44).
There are scientists who believe that procreation is destroying the earth. As the population grows, we consume more so-called limited resources. These scientists think that those who continue to have children are selfish and inconsiderate of the earth. Their thinking is contrary to God's will. God clearly said, "be fruitful and multiply.." (Gen. 9:7). God would not tell us to multiply if it would destroy the earth and use up all its resources. Just the opposite is true. God provides!
We don't have to panic about shortages. I'm not saying we should be wasteful, but trust that God will make a way and provide what we need. Blessings have 'no limit.' Even a child is wise enough to grasp this concept. When my daughter heard talk of the country being in huge debt owing outrageous amounts of money to other countries, she suggested, "Why don't they just print more money?"
Well, the government cannot simply print more money, but the way God works with supply, it's almost like having your own money printing machine! He creates provision!
I read that there are countless millions of dollars' worth of gold in the mountains of the earth, not yet brought to light; and that if there were not, God would create more to supply your needs! You are just that important to Him. He will change circumstances, influence people and move things, just to get you what you need. Do you believe that? I hope so. How else could you explain that we still have oil to use when scientists thought we would be all out by now?
With that in mind, we can be assured that there is no limit on blessings. We don't have to compete for blessings! God is creative! He is a God of abundance, overflow, more than enough! There is plenty for all of us and more where that came from! We don't have to knock anybody down trying to get something. God has plenty for you and you don't have to lie, rob or steal to get is. Ask, believe, receive (Matt. 21:22). Part of believing is doing.
That should ease concerns about lack. That should inspire us to seek God's supernatural provision! We should be compelled because God is able and there is NO LIMIT to His supply!!!

With God on my side,
the question is not 'who will let me?
"But who will stop me?!"
